Totesport Review

Tote was, until recently, a government-owned bookmaker and was actually established, in its earliest form, by an Act of Parliament in 1928! It was designed to offer on-course horse racing betting and ensure any profits went back into the sport.

Many things have changed and developed since then but since 2005 under the Totesport brand the company has grown and developed its online service. In 2011 long plans to privatise the company came to fruition and it was sold to Betfred.

Whilst they have grown and established an online casino and games suite they are still very much a racing-focussed company. They have a strong UK leaning in terms of sports covered and are still licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, unlike so many of their big rivals.

Among punters Tote are probably best known for Totepool Jackpot and Scoop6 bets. These bets are now offered through all bookmakers and create huge rollover wins (the biggest is around £3m). However, Totesport are a decent, trustworthy, solid bookie all-round, and well worth a look.

Totesport are not one of the best bookies when it comes to regular promotions, in part because their huge Totepool pay-outs are draw enough for many punters. Like their parent company Betfred they offer Double Delight and Hat-Trick Heaven. This promotion doubles and trebles your first goalscorers odds if your selection strikes first and then goes on to score twice or thrice and can be a great bonus for fans who enjoy picking the first to find the net.

Those who enjoy a spot of horse racing have a little more to get their teeth into, with Best Odds Guaranteed (though only on selected races) and daily specials and odds enhancements. Those racing fans who like doing large combination bets should also note that Totesport offer Lucky 15/31/63 enhancements that mean if you only get one winner they pay treble, four and five times the odds respectively.

Totesport Features Screenshot

Totesport are not one of the more flashy bookies around and that is reflected in the site appearance, functionality and (lack of) extra features. They offer mobile and in-play betting but the interfaces are not as good as rivals such as Bet365 and their range of markets is also relatively limited and quite UK-focussed compared to the very best.

However, they do offer an excellent football stats site, radio commentaries of a number of sports and have their own Youtube channel with lots of guides and information. The lack of live chat 24/7 customer service lets them down but all in all Tote are well worth signing up to, not least for the potential of winning life-changing Totepool prizes, and the slightly less dramatic but still decent 200% welcome bonus.
