Tottenham Hotspur v Swansea City Betting Tips & Preview – Saturday 16th September 2017

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur entertain Paul Clement’s Swansea City at Wembley Stadium in a Premier League fixture on Saturday night. Tottenham, who have drawn one and lost one at home so far, will be looking for their first three points at Wembley. Swansea, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back following Sunday’s disappointing 1-0 home loss to Newcastle United.

Despite Spurs’ Wembley woes, Pochettino’s boys are the strong favourites in this one. However, the Swans are unbeaten on the road in the Premier League so far, and they will make themselves hard to beat for their hosts. This should be a fascinating contest in the national stadium.

Top Tips

  • Tottenham Hotspur to Win 3-0 - 7/1 at Betfred
  • Tottenham Hotspur to Win to Nil - Evens at BetVictor

Tottenham may have struggled at home this season, but they have been faultless on the road. In their opener, Spurs beat Newcastle United 2-0, and last time out they eased past Everton with a 3-0 win at Goodison Park. However, sandwiched in between those two quality results were a 2-1 loss to Chelsea and a 1-1 draw with Burnley, both at Wembley.

Swansea have taken four points from a possible 12, with all four coming away from home. Like Tottenham, the Swans have also had their problems on home soil. At the Liberty Stadium, the Welsh club have been beaten 4-0 by Manchester United and 1-0 by Newcastle. Away from home, the Swans drew 0-0 with Southampton on the opening weekend, and beat Crystal Palace 2-0 before the international break.

Since the Swans arrived in the Premier League back in 2011, Spurs have certainly had their number. The pair have squared off 12 times, with Tottenham winning 10 and the other two ending in draws. Last term, the Lilywhites beat Swansea 5-0 at White Hart Lane.

We’re backing Tottenham to put their Wembley worries behind them on Saturday, and we like the look of the Betfred price of 7/1 for the hosts to win 3-0. There’s also strong value in BetVictor’s evens for Tottenham to beat the Swans without conceding.

Recent Head to Head Record

  • Swansea City 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur, April 2017
  • Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Swansea City, December 2016
  • Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Swansea City, February 2016
  • Swansea City 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur, October 2015

Other Bets

Now August is done and dusted, Harry Kane has started scoring goals again. The England striker scored a brace for his country against Malta in the international break, which he followed up with another double at Everton last weekend.

Kane netted twice in this corresponding fixture last term, and he will want to build on last week’s brace at Goodison. The Spurs No. 10 is available at 12/5 (Betfair) to score two or more on Saturday. We also feel Coral’s odds of 19/10 for Kane to score first are worth having a few quid on.
