Leicester City v Fleetwood Town Betting Tips & Preview – Tuesday 16th January 2018

After a tight and tense goalless draw at Highbury Stadium, Leicester City and Fleetwood Town square off in an Emirates FA Cup third round replay at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night. The Cod Army were unlucky not to have beaten the 2015-16 Premier League champions on home soil, but can they cause an FA Cup shock in the East Midlands on Tuesday?

The top flight side are the overwhelming favourites to book their passage through to the next round. Waiting in round four is a trip to EFL League One side Peterborough United, who knocked out Aston Villa in the third round. Will the Foxes ease through, or can Uwe Rosler’s men frustrate again and maybe even nick the win?

Leicester City Form

Leicester have made a vast improvement since former Southampton boss Claude Puel arrived on the scene back in October. Things didn’t quite go to plan for Puel at St Mary’s, but he’s certainly shown his capabilities at the King Power so far, as the Foxes have won six games under his management. However, they have won just one of their last seven in all competitions and so will be wanting to try and regain some confidence here.

In their last Premier League outing, the Foxes stuffed David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town 3-0. However, before hosting Fleetwood, Leicester make the trip to Stamford Bridge to play current champions Chelsea on Saturday. After 22 games, Leicester sit eighth in the table having picked up 30 points. The Foxes are in no danger of going down, so a cup run should be high on the agenda at the KP this season and they should be able to field a strong XI.

Fleetwood Town Form

Fleetwood have had a steady season up until now as Rosler’s men sit 13th in the League One table on 33 points. Town have won only nine of their 26 games, finding themselves eight points behind the play-off places as a result. Nevertheless, the Cod Army will be looking for a push for a top-six spot in the second half of the campaign.

After drawing with Leicester, Fleetwood beat Bury 3-2 away from home in the Football League Trophy. After winning their last two League One games in 2017, Rosler’s side have now lost just one of their past five in all competitions. Fleetwood will be buoyed by last week’s showing against the Premier League outfit, and they will be hoping for something similar on Tuesday.

Head to Head Stats

Last week’s FA Cup third round tie at Highbury Stadium was the first ever meeting between Fleetwood and Leicester. Despite being the huge underdogs, Town took the game to their Premier League opponents, causing them several problems throughout. The Cod Army even hit the post late on.

The Foxes rode their luck at times, and they could be in for another touch matchup against the third tier side this Tuesday. We should be in for an interesting night in the King Power Stadium.

Fleetwood Town v Leicester City 6th January 2018 0-0 Draw

Injuries & Suspensions

Fleetwood’s Connor McAleny, who recently returned from injury, will be pushing for a start after coming off the bench in the 0-0 draw. Former Town player Jamie Vardy is fighting to be fit for the replay, but could miss out again. Meanwhile, defenders Danny Simpson and Wes Morgan are still side-lined with injuries.

Leicester City

  • Jamie Vardy - Could miss out with a groin strain
  • Danny Simpson - Side-lined with a hamstring injury
  • Wes Morgan - Skipper out for a few weeks with a hamstring problem

Fleetwood Town

  • Connor McAleny - Attacker pushing for a start

Betting Tips

Fleetwood did themselves no harm whatsoever in the first game, but this one at the King Power could be a step too far. As we touched on, the Foxes are in no real danger of being caught up in a relegation scrap, so this could be the perfect year to have a run in the FA Cup. With Peterborough waiting in the next round, Leicester have a real chance to progress to round five and possibly beyond.

Leicester City to Win to Nil

When the Foxes score first at home, they are very hard to break down at the other end. Leicester have won seven times in all competitions at the King Power Stadium this term, with five of those coming without conceding. With that in mind, have a punt on the hosts to win to nil on Tuesday, which you can get at the decent odds of 4/5.

Leicester City to Win 3-0

In their last outing on home turf, Puel’s troops swept aside Huddersfield with a convincing 3-0 win in the Premier League. The Foxes have scored three or more goals in each of their last three wins, and we like the look of 6/1 for a 3-0 home triumph here.

Leicester City to Win Both Halves

We also fancy the hosts to make a fast start on their own patch. Therefore, take a look at 11/8 for Leicester to win both halves on Tuesday on their way to a routine success.
