Chelsea Form

Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park on the final day of the season summed up their pretty poor Premier League campaign. The Blues had a chance to leapfrog Liverpool in the top four, but they ended up finishing five points adrift in fifth. With no UEFA Champions League football at Stamford Bridge next season, will one or two of their stars opt for pastures new in the summer?

Despite their disappointing Premier League and Champions League campaigns, Chelsea have managed to reach the final of this year’s FA Cup. On their way to the last two, Conte’s side have seen off the likes of Norwich City, Newcastle United, Hull City, Leicester City and Southampton. After being losing finalists last season, can Conte and co go one better this time around?

Manchester United Form

Man United were the best of the rest in the Premier League, finishing runners-up to Manchester City on 81 points. Incredibly, the Red Devils finished 11 points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea. Mourinho has already won the FA Community Shield, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League during his short time at Old Trafford, will he add the FA Cup on Saturday?

The Red Devils have been very strong in this year’s competition, scoring 12 and shipping just one. United eased past Derby County, Yeovil Town, Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion in the earlier rounds. In the semi-final, Jose’s boys came from behind to beat Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.

Head to Head Stats

These two heavyweights played out two tight games in the Premier League this season. At Stamford Bridge back in November, Alvaro Morata’s header proved to be the difference in a 1-0 Chelsea win. Then at Old Trafford in February, Man United came from a goal down to win 2-1, with Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard on the scoresheet for the Red Devils.

These two last met in the FA Cup just last season, with N’Golo Kante scoring in a narrow 1-0 win. Didier Drogba scored the only goal in extra-time when Mourinho’s Chelsea beat Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man United in the final back in 2007.

Injuries & Suspensions

David Luiz and Danny Drinkwater are both injury doubts for Chelsea. Man United are sweating on the fitness of top goalscorer Lukaku, who recently picked up an ankle injury. United could also be without Marouane Fellaini and Anthony Martial.

  • David Luiz - Defender likely to miss out with a knee injury
  • Danny Drinkwater - Could miss out with a groin problem
  • Ethan Ampadu - Out since March with a broken ankle

Manchester United

  • Marouane Fellaini - Could miss the final with a muscle injury
  • Romelu Lukaku - Striker fighting to be fit after suffering a knock to his ankle
  • Anthony Martial - Doubtful due to a knee problem

Betting Tips

Both teams head into this final in decent form – United won four of their last six in the Premier League, while last Sunday’s loss at Newcastle was Chelsea’s first defeat in eight. However, form and previous results usually go out of the window in finals, especially when the two finalists are as evenly matched as Chelsea and Man United are. United may be the slight favourites with the bookies, but this showpiece event could go either way in the national stadium.

Chelsea Win

After failing to secure a place in the Premier League’s top four, there are strong rumours that this could be Conte’s final game in charge of the London club. If that is to be the case, the Italian would love to bow out with an FA Cup winner’s medal. We fancy Chelsea to edge a tense final in normal time (19/10) on Saturday.

Chelsea Win & Both Teams to Score

On their way to the final two, Chelsea and Man United have scored an impressive 24 goals between them (12 each). We’re backing the pair to find the net on Saturday, so put some money on the Chelsea win and both teams to score at 11/2.

Chelsea to Score First

Chelsea struck first in both Premier League meetings this term, and the Blues are priced at 6/5 to score the opening goal at Wembley on Saturday.
