Crystal Palace v West Bromwich Albion Betting Tips & Preview – Sunday 13th May 2018

Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace and Darren Moore’s West Bromwich Albion square off at Selhurst Park on the final day of the Premier League season. The Baggies are on their way down to the EFL Championship, but they are also one of the in-form teams in the division. As for the Eagles, they could still finish in the top half of the table.

Both Palace and West Brom head into Sunday’s match in good shape, but the home team are the favourites. Hodgson’s boys have won their last two at Selhurst Park, and the Eagles would love to swoop to a third successive home win on the last day.

Crystal Palace Form

Palace have enjoyed a very successful end to their season, winning three and drawing two of their last five to survive with flying colours in the end. Things were looking bleak after gaining just five points from a possible 27 prior to their five-game unbeaten run, but now Palace have their eyes on a top-half finish.

The London club are currently 11th on 41 points, level on points with 10th-placed Newcastle United. With the Magpies hosting Chelsea on Sunday, a win for Palace could lift them up to 10th. After such a woeful start under Frank de Boer, a top-half finish will be a staggering achievement by the Eagles.

West Bromwich Albion Form

Under Moore, West Brom have picked up a superb 11 points from a possible 15, beating the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur. The Baggies also fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Liverpool recently. Before Moore’s arrival, Albion had lost nine league and cup games in a row.

Despite their valiant revival, Southampton’s 1-0 victory at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night relegated the Baggies back down to the Championship. Nevertheless, West Brom’s excellent run of results will stand them in good stead for a tough summer and a season in the second tier. Can the Midlands outfit seal a third straight win on Sunday?

Head to Head Stats

Back in December at The Hawthorns, West Brom and Crystal Palace played out an uneventful 0-0 draw. Last season, however, each side won the away fixture, with the Baggies winning 1-0 at Selhurst, while Palace returned the favour with a 2-0 victory at The Hawthorns.

Since the Eagles flew into the Premier League back in 2013, things have been pretty even in this fixture. However, there have only been two draws between the pair in the nine matches.

  • Jason Puncheon - Still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury

Betting Tips

With both clubs in strong form going into the final day, this clash could go either way in the capital. West Brom will be questioning why they didn’t appoint Moore earlier, while Palace will be thanking their lucky stars for Hodgson. With this one hard to call, we should be in for an entertaining fixture in south London at the weekend.

Crystal Palace to Win -1

Since losing three in a row at home to the likes of Tottenham, Man United and Liverpool, Palace have secured impressive home wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Leicester City, scoring eight goals in the process. Under Hodgson, Southampton are the only team from the bottom half to have won at Selhurst. We can see Palace closing the curtain on what has ultimately been a successful season with another home win. Back the Eagles to win -1 at 21/10.

Crystal Palace to Win Both Halves

In their last home outing, Palace were 2-0 up at half time in their eventual 5-0 thrashing of Leicester. For the hosts to win both halves against West Brom on Sunday, take a look at the strong odds of 9/2.

Crystal Palace HT/FT

We also fancy Hodgson’s men to be winning at half time and full time, which you can get at the tempting price of 15/8.
