Adam Nawalka’s Poland and Aliou Cisse’s Senegal go head-to-head in a Group H matchup at the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday. This should be an intriguing fixture at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow, especially as the two have never met. Before a ball has been kicked in anger in Group H, the Poles and Jose Pekerman’s Colombia are expected to battle for first place, but Senegal and Japan will not be too far behind.

Poland, guided by the prolific Robert Lewandowski, will fancy their chances of picking up three points from their opening World Cup game in the Russian capital on Tuesday. However, with the likes of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Everton’s Idrissa Gueye and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly within their ranks, the Senegalese could give Poland, Colombia and Japan a run for their money in Group H. Get ready for what promises to be an enthralling World Cup encounter in Moscow.

Poland Form

Poland were very strong during qualifying, picking up eight wins from 10 games to ease into this World Cup. Bayern Munich ace Lewandowski netted an incredible 16 goals along the way. Nawalka’s men won eight, drew one and lost one to finish five points ahead of runners-up Denmark. After falling to back-to-back friendly defeats to Mexico and Nigeria, Poland have won two and drawn one of their past three. The White and Reds thumped Lithuania 4-0 in Warsaw in their final World Cup warm-up game last week.

The Poles failed to qualify for South Africa in 2010 and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, so you can be sure that they will make the most of their time in Russia. If Nawalka’s men can navigate through Group H, they certainly have the players to go far at this tournament. After going up against Senegal in the capital on Tuesday, Poland then play Columbia in Kazan before finishing Group H with a game against Japan in Volgograd. Can the Poles progress to the knockouts for the first time since 1986?

Poland v South Korea 27th March 2018 3-2 Win

Senegal Form

After making light work of Madagascar in CAF Second Round, Senegal went up against Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and South Africa in the last round of qualifying. The Senegalese were the dominant force in Group D, winning four and drawing two of six games to finish top by five points. Senegal have qualified for just one World Cup prior to Russia, making it all the way to the quarter-finals back in 2002. In a memorable World Cup 16 years ago, the Senegalese beat France and Sweden, and drew with Denmark and Uruguay.

After beating South Africa in their final World Cup qualifier back in November, Senegal were without a win until beating the South Africans again in a friendly matchup last week. An own goal and a penalty was enough to give Cisse’s men an unconvincing 2-0 victory in Austria. Despite heading to Russia in patchy form, can the Lions of Teranga cause an upset against the Poles on Tuesday afternoon?

Head to Head Stats

Tuesday’s game in the Russian capital will be the first ever meeting between Poland and Senegal, which should make for an interesting contest at the Spartak Stadium.

Injuries & Suspensions

Poland will be without their influential centre-back Kamil Glik, who picked up a shoulder injury and will miss the opening two games at the very least. Cisse’s Senegal have no injury concerns ahead of this one.

  • No injuries

Betting Tips

Poland will be hoping to build on their superb qualifying campaign by kicking off their World Cup with three big points on Tuesday. Glik is a huge loss to the Polish side, but the nation has several other top players in their squad. On their day, Poland can beat any team, and they will back themselves to do a job on Senegal on Tuesday.

As for the Senegalese, Cisse has certainly brought the good days back to the country. The Lions of Teranga may be inexperienced when it comes to major tournaments, but they will certainly enjoy their stay in Russia, ruffling a few feathers in Group H along the way. This will be an interesting match between two contrasting styles, but Poland’s knowhow should get them over the line in Moscow.

Poland Win & Both Teams to Score

Since drawing 0-0 with Uruguay in a friendly back in November, last week’s 4-0 win over the Lithuanians was the first time Poland had kept a clean sheet. Senegal, meanwhile, have scored in six of their last eight. We’re backing Poland to edge this one, but we do fancy the Senegalese to notch. The Poles to win and both teams to score is available at 4/1.

Poland to Score 2+ Goals

Poland scored two or more goals in nine of their 10 World Cup qualifiers. You can get the Poles at 6/4 to net 2+ goals on Tuesday.

Robert Lewandowski to Score First

Lewandowski has just had another tremendous season in Germany, and he will be vital to Poland’s chances in Russia. The 29-year-old is priced at 11/4 to score first in Moscow.
